So, when eating in Rome, street performers would set up outside and perform. At the end, they would walk through the restaurants and ask for tips. Some performers were better than others, and this kid was good. He was probably 12 years old. He pulled up with is amp and played the violin to some recorded songs. He also had a great voice, and belted out a few songs for us. James and I both felt that we should tip him, but we only had a 1 Euro coin, and a 10 Euro bill. When the kid came to our table, we saw that he was selling his CD for 10 Euro, so we bought it. You could tell he made it himself - the cover was a photocopied picture of him, and on the inside, the list of songs were hand written. We weren't sure if we got ripped off and just paid 10 Euro for a blank CD, but were glad to realize that there were actually songs on the CD. They are very poorly recorded, and I'm sure he did it all by himself. Good to support the local kids, I guess - and we'll always have it as a memory of our trip.
